We have many emotions in our mind. Sometimes we feel extremely happy, and sometimes we feel the reverse, extremely sad. Many times, fear can be stuck in our minds, and we start to overthink about it daily. This fear can last for hours to weeks. Firstly, it is a form of unnecessary fear. Some things in life we cannot control. Thinking about those things again and again will be a hectic task as it consumes our precious time, and we get diverted from our focus and from our goal.

To overcome overthinking, we should understand that the thoughts are coming from our mind and those are not the reality. Experiences are real but not the fear. For example, a person can get extremely hyper or anxious if a delivery is not on time. If the boss has allotted him the task of receiving some delivery on a particular date and if the delivery hasn’t yet been done, then if the person is anxious in nature, he starts to fear things which are not in his control. That is, thinking about delivering the article that the boss has demanded from the vendor is not his job to do. The job is of a courier, but the person could get upset and start to overthink, like what will happen if the courier doesn’t come. Will the boss fire me? Was it my fault the delivery was late?

So, basically, these are the necessary fears a person might have and start to overthink and spoil his mood and then those of others too. Thus, it is important to understand that overthinking is a bad habit to achieve anything in life. It can showcase the lack of confidence.

How to overcome overthinking?

1) First, think rationally. We are humans, and can make mistakes, but we need to be very confident in our situations. Overthinking about things which are not in our control is a bad habit. We must stop that.

2) Relaxing is the best thing to do daily. You need to use relaxing techniques like meditation, breathing. This can make your mind calm and stable. It can relax the nervous system.

3) Avoid negative thinking. We need to balance our thoughts and have a self-talk like why am I having this fear? What bad could happen? Am I reacting unnecessarily? You will get these answers of your own.

4) Write down the negative factors which are affecting you. If people are making you more anxious, then don’t think like they are your enemies. If you are feeling disturbed, you should seek professional help.
