Metro Line 12A Approved: 18 KM Long Route Will Benefit Kalyan-Dombivli Connectivity
Mumbai Metro is changing the infrastructure in Mumbai and also bringing more and easier connectivity. The underground metro of Mumbai, which is the Aqualine, has gained popularity and a huge response from passengers. Now Kalyan and Dombivali will also be more connected as the Mumbai Metro 2A got approval, according to the reports.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region’s metro network is about to grow, with the proposed 18 kilometer corridor serving as an extension of Metro Line 12. The new section, to be known as Metro 12A, has already had a thorough project report (DPR) produced for it, as per the reports.
Officials believe the new corridor will probably connect to Metro Line 12 close to Taloja after passing via National Highway 48 and Kalyan-Shilphata Road. It’s possible that the corridor will share stations and tracks with the planned Metro 14 from Katai Naka to Kalyan Phata.
According to a plan by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), Metro 12A will travel between Kalyan’s Manpada and Khutari hamlet in Taloja. The 18.4 km elevated route will enhance the connection between the trans harbour districts of Navi Mumbai and Kalyan-Dombivli.
According to MP Shrikant Shinde, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has authorized the extension of Metro Line 12 through a new corridor that runs parallel to Kalyan-Shilphata Road in Thane district at a projected cost of Rs. 8,414.53 crore.
As the PTI reported, Shinde stated that the extended corridor, which would be built as Metro Line 12A, would connect Kalyan to Taloja via vital nodes such as Katai Naka, Desai Naka, Kalyan Phata and Dahisar Mori, speaking after assessing the status of current infrastructure projects in his Kalyan Lok Sabha district. “It would greatly enhance connectivity between Kalyan-Dombivli, Navi Mumbai and Mumbai and it is projected to alleviate traffic congestion on the busy Kalyan-Shilphata stretch,” he stated.
