Due to a Technical Issue, Air India Flight Returns to Mumbai

On Wednesday, flight AI191 took off from Mumbai for Newark but had to return mid-way due to a suspected technical issue. The aircraft landed safely back in Mumbai, an airline spokesperson confirmed.

“The crew of flight AI191 operating from Mumbai to Newark on October 22 made a precautionary air return to Mumbai due to a suspected technical issue,” Air India said in a statement.

“The flight landed safely back in Mumbai, and the aircraft is undergoing necessary inspections. All affected passengers in Mumbai have been provided hotel accommodations and rebooked on alternative Air India and other airlines’ flights to their destination.”

The airline further stated, “Passengers of flight AI144 from Newark were also notified of the cancellation and are being assisted with alternative arrangements at the earliest opportunity.”

As a result, both flights AI191 and AI144 operating between Mumbai and Newark were cancelled. Air India confirmed that hotel arrangements and alternative flight bookings have been made for affected passengers in both Mumbai and Newark.
