Michael Box Office Collection Day 1: Michael Jackson Biopic Mints Rs 3.80 Cr in India

Michael, a film based on the life of legendary singer and performer Michael Jackson, is running at the theatres successfully. Released on April 24, 2026, the film registered the biggest opening for a Hollywood film in 2026 in India. With a total collection of Rs 5.5 crore, including previews, Michael is showing no signs of slowing down at the box office. As of day 2, afternoon, the film has already raked in Rs 2.04 crore net in India. Undoubtedly, it is safe to say that the biopic, starring Jackson’s nephew, has gotten the best start for a musical biopic in India. It has surpassed the films of Elvis and Bohemian Rhapsody.

Helmed by Antoine Fuqua, Michael is headlined by Jaafar Jackson, nephew of pop legend Michael Jackson. The supporting cast includes Miles Teller, Nia Long, and Laura Harrier in key roles. The film chronicles the life and journey of the global icon. 

On Day 1, Michael collected a net of Rs 3.80 crore by running across 3,029 shows. This brings the total India gross collections to Rs 6.60 crore and the total India net collections to Rs 5.50 crore so far. Interestingly, it generated significant buzz for its visual treatment, tone, and genre. However, its overall theatrical run reflected a more measured audience response. Fans and movie buffs are now glued to the film’s box office run over the weekend. 

Moreover, the film also showed a better occupancy rate than other films like Bhooth Bangla and Ginny Wedss Sunny 2. On Saturday, the theatre occupancy for Michael stood at 16 percent in the 1306 shows in India.
