Ginny Weds Sunny 2 Box Office Day 1: Avinash Tiwary, Medha Shankr’s Rom-Com Rakes In Rs 30 Lakh

One of the much-anticipated romantic comedies is Avinash Tiwary and Medha Shankr’s Ginny Wedss Sunny 2. Released on April 24, 2026, the film opened slowly at the box office, minting Rs 30 lakh net in India on day 1. With barely over 1,000 shows around India, Ginny Weds Sunny’s sequel has a poor start with lesser occupancy rate. Morning shows recorded an occupancy rate of about 3.7 percent, with a slight rise to around 5 percent in the afternoon, indicating limited traction through the day. 

All eyes are now on its weekend collection. Directed by Prasshant Jha, the cast also includes Sudhir Pandey, Lillete Dubey, and Govind Namdev in key roles. Take a closer look at the box office numbers.

According to Sacnilk, the film earned only Rs 30 lakh net on Friday and Rs 36 gross. It saw a very low figure for a Bollywood release. Written by Prasshant Jha, Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 is a spiritual sequel to the 2020 film Ginny Weds Sunny. 

The opening numbers draw comparisons with earlier releases of the lead actors. Avinash Tiwary’s 2018 Laila Majnu, which performed poorly, had clocked a similar Rs 30 lakh on its first day. On the other hand, Medha Shankr’s 2024’s 12th Fail collected significantly higher at Rs 1.10 crore and went on to grow steadily through strong word of mouth. For Ginny Weds Sunny 2, the path toward box office success looks challenging.
