A week after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh, the actor has sent a legal notice to the film body in the wake of his sudden, last-minute exit from Farhan Akhtar’s directorial Don 3.  To refresh your memory, on 25 May, the directive advised all affiliated unions not to work on any project featuring the actor. Several celebrities and film bodies opposed FWICE’s decision to ban Ranveer Singh, sparking widespread debate.

On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, the FWICE retracted its non-cooperation directive against the actor following his sudden departure from the film. Here’s what the film body said over its decision to withdraw the directive.

FWICE Withdraws Non-Cooperation Directive Against Ranveer Singh

After the intervention of the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA), FWICE announced the withdrawal of its directive against the Dhurandhar actor. The producers’ body has called for a “constructive and amicable resolution” regarding the ongoing issues.

In a press statement, FWICE state, “Over the course of subsequent discussions and deliberations, and after taking into consideration the intervention and appeal made by Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) (respected producer body), it was collectively felt that the matter should now move towards a constructive and amicable resolution in the larger interest of maintaining harmony and unity within the entertainment industry.” It further added that it has always been the body’s endeavour to resolve differences or disputes within the fraternity through dialogue, mutual understanding, and responsible cooperation rather than prolonged discord. In continuation of the same spirit of responsibility towards the industry and its members, the body announced the withdrawal of the Non-Cooperation Directive (NCD) issued against Ranveer with immediate effect. This thoughtful decision has been taken after careful introspection and constructive discussions, keeping in mind the collective sentiments and larger welfare of the film fraternity.

At the press conference held in Mumbai, FWICE Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit confirmed that the organisation had decided to drop the action after receiving a formal legal notice from Singh’s representatives. It stated that the FWICE will be required to respond to the litigation in court. Sources within the film body confirmed the receipt of the legal notice and indicated that they will officially respond to the same via a press conference.

The actor’s last known communication with the FWICE was on May 23, before the legal notice. His representative wrote to the film body informing that the body has no jurisdiction over the matter. Even though the representative proposed to meet and address the matter personally, the FWICE has insisted that Ranveer show up personally to resolve the issue.
