Haiwaan Review on X: Akshay Kumar And Saif Ali Khan’s Thriller Receives Mixed Reviews
Starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles, “Haiwaan” has finally hit the theatres today. Helmed by Priyadarshan, early viewers have flooded social media with their two cents. Many of them have praised the actors’ commanding screen presence, whereas a few found the film boring and expected more from the protagonists. Moreover, the audience found that the film followed the 2016 Malayalam film “Oppam” religiously. At times, certain scenes were a frame-to-frame recreation rather than a fresh adaptation.
Here’s what the early viewers have to share on X.

Haiwaan follows the saga of Shyam Rane, played by Saif Ali Khan, a visually impaired building maintenance head in South Mumbai with heightened senses of hearing and smell, along with remarkable reflexes. His life takes a turn when his close friend and resident, Pradhan, shares a secret from his past. Cut to a mysterious man named Parshuram Gokhale, portrayed by Akshay Kumar, who begins targeting people connected to the judge. After Pradhan becomes a victim, Shyam finds himself caught in a dangerous situation and is wrongly blamed for what happened.
A gripping psychological thriller #Haiwaan ⭐⭐⭐⭐ powered by terrific performances from Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, stylish visuals, and an effective background score. Talking about the visuals, creative elements, and solid performances from Akshay and Saif, a fan on X wrote, “A gripping psychological thriller #Haiwaan powered by terrific performances from Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, stylish visuals, and an effective background score. Priyadarshan keeps the tension alive, especially in the second half, delivering a surprise at the end.”
After watching the first half, a user shared, “Honestly, Haiwaan feels very similar to Oppam. Many scenes and plot twists are almost identical to the original, with little effort made to add a fresh touch. Akshay’s character had a lot of potential, but so far, it feels like it hasn’t been written well. Hopefully, the second half will be better and offer a good experience.” Another added, “Solid first half. @priyadarshandir literally cooked this time again after BhoothBangla. He is proving why he’s so GOATed after Christopher Nolan. #AkshayKumar, oh my GOAT, what an actor you are… Just nailed it, hats off, take my bow king. #SaifAliKhan great work, loved his acting – after a long time returned to the big screen.”

Besides Saif and Akshay Kumar, “Haiwaan” also features Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Saiyami Kher, Rajpal Yadav, Sharib Hashmi, Rajesh Sharma, Asrani, and others in key roles, with Mohanlal’s cameo appearance.
