Mount Semeru in Indonesia Erupts, Spews Ash 13km Into Sky: See Video
Another huge volcano has occurred in Indonesia, forcing hundreds of people to leave home. Many residents have shifted to safer places, as per the media reports. Spewing ash 13 kilometers into the atmosphere, Indonesia’s Mount Semeru erupted on Wednesday. The explosion was probably visible in the video which has now gone viral on social media. A vast portion of the area has been taken over by the clouds.
According to Septi Wardhani of the Semeru national park, the stranded hikers had spent the night at a campsite on a lake that was about 6.4 kilometers away from the crater but were now being led out.
A video made available by Indonesia’s volcanology organization showed dense plumes of burning ash rising from the crater and covering the volcano’s slopes. The volcano Mount Semeru, which erupted at 2:13 p.m. local time, is located on Java Island, some 310 kilometers west of Bali, a popular tourist destination.
According to the latest update, authorities have already evacuated over 900 people since the eruption of Mount Semeru, one of the highest mountains in Indonesia. On Thursday, the 170 climbers who were trapped in the area following the volcanic eruption were also brought back to safety.

It is situated along the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area of high seismic activity where shifting tectonic plates cause frequent earthquakes and eruptions. There are over 130 active volcanoes in the Southeast Asian archipelago.
