Apple has regained the title of the most valuable company in the world, unseating Nvidia after a steep decline in AI-related chip stocks sparked fresh concerns about the viability of significant artificial intelligence investments.

What Does it Mean by Most Valuable Company?

The iPhone manufacturer’s shares rose by around 1% to an all-time high, increasing its market value to over 4.93 trillion USD. Meanwhile, Nvidia’s valuation fell by about 5% to approximately 4.78 trillion USD after its stock plummeted. The development signals a further change in the contest for the top position among the largest technological corporations worldwide.

Key Drivers

1) The rise of Apple was fueled by consistent gains in its stock price, but Nvidia experienced pressure as semiconductor shares experienced a general selloff.

2) With increasing worries about whether billions of dollars spent on data centers would yield sufficient profits, investors are becoming more and more careful about the speed of AI infrastructure expenditures. .

3) Investors were also concerned about the financing risks associated with claims that Nvidia may provide financial support for a significant OpenAI data center project.
