Watch: Internet Praises Elderly Woman for Confronting Scooter Rider Using Footpath

We often see scooter riders or bikers use the sidewalk as a way to get around the dense traffic and as a shortcut. An elderly woman whose way was obstructed by a biker riding on the footpath is now trending on Instagram. She tells him to use the road instead of using the footpath. The woman receives positive comments.

A user named @aflu_stories_ has shared this video. The clip shows the woman standing firm after a number of riders on bicycles and scooters had moved onto the footpath to stay out of traffic. Despite the rider’s attempts to pass her, the woman remained in the middle. She even pulled out her phone at one point, appearing to be filming the rider breaking the regulations.

The woman’s clear commands and strong position gave the driver little opportunity to dispute, forcing him to give up riding on the footpath and retreat to the road, even if he first objected.

“Yesterday, close to the traffic signal in Eranhipalam, Kozhikode. By going alone, prevent the bike from riding on the sidewalk. This might indeed result in a significant catastrophe. This either must or ought to be put to an end. The elderly and children are strolling along the route while bikes whiz by,” the caption said. Further, the video’s description read, “Big salute, but I don’t know who the woman was who reacted to this.” The video has received more than 30 million views.
