The IMD has issued an orange alert in Delhi. The city has witnessed intense heat. Now citizens may get relief from the humidity and hot weather. Delhi and the surrounding regions are at risk from dust storms, strong winds, thunderstorms and lightning, according to an IMD alert.
Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana are among the northwestern Indian states where comparable situations are anticipated. On June 11 and 12, there will likely be light to heavy rain with thunderstorm activity, especially at night and in the evening, with partly cloudy skies and erratic weather conditions.
The IMD predicted high surface winds in the national capital for Thursday, with speeds varying from 50 to 60 kmph and gusts of up to 70 kmph. The alert follows severe weather circumstances experienced in portions of Delhi on Tuesday night, which included sudden changes in local weather patterns as a result of reportedly 111 kmph powerful winds.
According to the IMD, over the next three to four days, the monsoon is still likely to make progress into additional higher areas of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and sections of Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar.
