Many States To Observe Holiday For Mahavir Jayanti on March 31, Check April Bank Holiday Calendar

As the financial year ending on March 31, it will be a bank holiday in many states on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti.

On the 31st of March, the financial year 2025-2026 will end. The day will be observed as a bank holiday on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti. On this day, all banks, schools, colleges, government offices and other public facilities are closed to allow people to enjoy the festival with their loved ones.

The RBI holiday calendar states that Mahavir Jayanti will be observed as a holiday in the states including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.

Including weekends, there may be up to 14 bank holidays in April. To minimize inconvenience, customers are advised to plan their transactions accordingly.

List of Bank Holidays in April 2026:

April 1 (To enable banks to close their yearly accounts) : All except northeast (excluding Tripura), Sikkim, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh

April 2 (Maundy Thursday) : Kerala

April 3 (Good Friday) : Everywhere except Tripura, Chandigarh, Assam, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir

April 14 (Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, Tamil New Year, Bohag Bihu) : All except Mizoram, Madhya Pradhesh, Chandigarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Himachal

April 15 (Bengali New Year’s Day (Nababarsha)/Bohag Bihu/Vishu/Himachal Day) : Only in Tripura, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Kerala, West Bengal, Himachal

April 16 (Bohag Bihu) : Holiday in Assam

April 20 (Basava Jayanti/Akshaya Tritiya) : Holiday in Karnataka

April 21 (Garia Puja) : Holiday in Tripura

Saturdays and Sundays:

April 11, 25: Second and Fourth Saturdays

April 5, 12, 19, 26: Sundays
