IMD Issues Orange Alert, Heavy Rainfall Across Multiple States due to Western Disturbances
As the month of March started, many states have been experiencing massive climate change. Mumbai’s AQI has been slightly improved and Delhi also experienced unseasonal rains. The temperature is rising and cities like Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Delhi are experiencing humid weather.
Now due to the western disturbances, many states will also have heavy rainfall till March 31. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on March 27 that Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim and Assam will experience significant rain, hence an orange alert was issued.
Due to the active Western Disturbances across the Western Himalayan area, rain, snow, thunderstorms and strong winds will be observed until March 31 and the northwest plains will see rainfall, as per the forecast.
According to the recent IMD press release, “Isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds likely over the Western Himalayan region till 27th and scattered to fairly widespread during 28th to 31st March in association with Western Disturbances.”
