The US-Canada trade deal has collapsed and the Trump government have imposed 50 percent tariffs on Canadian products, according to reports. After negotiations for a trade agreement between the US and Canada fell through, the US imposed tariffs of 50 percent on Canadian products worth 20 billion USD.

According to the events, early on Saturday, the US placed higher tariffs on Canadian products and Canada immediately announced that it would respond.

Prime Minister Mark Carney’s pledge to match the tariffs imposed by the Trump administration made Canada respond swiftly to the action. On its economy, Canada has sought relief from US levies on steel, aluminum and automobiles, which have caused job losses and put a strain on its once solid trade relationship with Washington.

Canada Prime Minister Mark Carney has shared a statement. He says, “Last-minute changes in the US proposed terms were unfair, uneconomic and called into question the reliability of any deal.” “Canada will match those tariffs dollar for dollar to protect our workers and businesses,” Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said further in his statement.
