Maharashtra has once again regained its position as a leader in the cleanliness mission by winning 10 prestigious awards in the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25. Known as the world’s largest cleanliness survey, Swachh Survekshan evaluates cities across India on parameters such as waste management, sanitation, citizen participation, and innovation in cleanliness drives.
This year, Maharashtra stood out for its consistent efforts in sustainable waste disposal, improved sanitation infrastructure, and active community involvement. Several of its cities secured top ranks, highlighting the state’s commitment to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Officials stated that the recognition is a result of joint efforts by urban local bodies, civic authorities, and citizens who worked together to make their surroundings cleaner and healthier. Maharashtra’s achievement sets a benchmark for other states, proving that strong governance and public participation can bring remarkable results in nation-wide cleanliness initiatives.
