Bus from Hyderabad to Bengaluru Catches Fire After Collision in Andhra Pradesh, 20 Killed

20 people were killed after a private bus caught fire following a collision with a two-wheeler on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru route in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district.

The tragic incident occurred early Friday morning, around 3:30 AM, near Chinnatekur village. Reports indicate that the bus was carrying 40 passengers. Out of them, 18 survived, while several others sustained critical injuries. According to the police, many of the deceased were completely burned, making identification difficult.

Eyewitnesses reported that the fire initially broke out in the front portion of the bus and quickly spread throughout. Some passengers managed to break the emergency exit and escape, though they were also injured. The survivors were rushed to Kurnool Government Hospital for treatment.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire.

Andhra Pradesh CM Expresses Grief

Expressing sorrow over the tragedy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said:
“I am shocked to learn about the devastating bus fire accident near Chinnatekur village in Kurnool district. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families of those who have lost their loved ones. Government authorities will extend all possible support to the injured and affected families.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Expresses Grief

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences: “Extremely saddened by the loss of lives due to a mishap in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. My thoughts are with the affected people and their families during this difficult time. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

President of India Droupadi Murmu Expresses Grief

President Droupadi Murmu said, “The loss of lives in a tragic bus fire accident in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, is deeply unfortunate. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.”
