Much-loved Hollywood actors Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez are all set to step into the realm of animated features. The duo has teamed up for Not Alone, an upcoming alien-themed comedy drama by Illumination Studios behind blockbuster hits including Despicable Me, Minions, and The Super Mario Bros. They will be lending their voices to animated characters. The news has already generated significant buzz online.

During the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Universal and Illumination, the makers unveiled the film’s release date as April 16, 2026. Here’s more to it!

Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez to Voice Illumination’s Not Alone

Not Alone follows the saga of Joe, an introverted rocket mechanic voiced by Timothée Chalamet, and Fran, a brilliant astro-botanist voiced by Selena Gomez, who is developing the world’s first plant-powered rocket.

The official synopsis reads, “When Joe and Fran are brought together to prepare for the inaugural launch of this revolutionary rocket, there are immediate sparks, but neither is particularly adept at romance. Life becomes more complicated when three aliens—tiny, unruly and adorable—take refuge in Joe’s home. Dunk, Welly and Shirm are on the interplanetary run from a zealous-yet-inept officer of the law named Zandro. The aliens determine that Fran’s rocket could provide their means of getting back home to safety.”

All in all, helmed by Illumination veterans Eric Guillon, Claire Dodgson, and Jonathan Del Val, Not Alone reunites Chalamet and Gomez, who previously shared screens in Woody Allen’s A Rainy Day in New York, released in 2019. The supporting cast includes Brett Goldstein, Allison Janney, Lamorne Morris, Rob Brydon, Diane Morgan, and Jamie Demetriou. Now, fans and cinephiles are all excited to listen to their favorite as they voice the animated characters.
