Chase’s longtime manager and friend, John Ryan Jr., confirmed the news of her sad demise to BBC News. The former child star kick-started her career at the age of 4 years old, booking her first Hollywood job when she was 7, but she retired from acting full-time in 2015. Born on 24 July 1990, in Las Vegas, she rose to fame in 2002 with her portrayal of Samara Morgan in The Ring, the American adaptation of the Japanese horror classic. Her phenomenal role earned her the MTV Movie Award for Best Villain in 2003, the same year she voiced Lilo Pelekai in the animated hit Lilo And Stitch. Moreover, she also showcased her talent by lending her voice to Chihiro Ogino in the English-language version of the Academy Award-winning animated film Spirited Away.

Ryan stated, “Recently, everything changed. Daveigh was diagnosed with meningitis and several serious blood infections. Her condition has become critical, and the doctors have told me she may not have much time left. All she ever wanted was a place where we could live together, feel safe, and be happy. Now, more than ever, I want to give her that sense of home and peace in her final days.” Talking about her personality, he expressed, “She was the greatest. She loved cats. She worked with cat rescues with us. She was very much to herself.” All in all, her absence will be deeply felt.
