Toy Story 5 Witnesses Biggest Weekend Opening Ever, Rakes $312M Globally
Toy Story has been generating a significant amount of buzz since the day of its release. The fifth installment has raked in $152 million, bringing its estimated global haul for the three days to $312 million. Premiered on 19 June, the fifth installment of the Toy Story saga follows Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear as they face their toughest rival yet – a tablet computer.
The movie saw the second-highest opening for an animated feature, following the record of 2018’s Incredibles 2 that earned $182.7 million domestically. For the unversed, the series’ third and fourth instalments made more than $1 billion at the box office.
Toy Story 5 Box Office Collection
Toy Story 5 scored Disney’s franchise’s best opening weekend, with ticket sales of more than $300m globally. According to the BBC, the film collected over $160m in North America and more than $150m internationally in its first weekend in theatres. It also continues the trend of strong theatrical showings for family-friendly titles, as nearly 70 percent of ticket buyers were part of family groups.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, it collected a net of Rs 2.30 crore by running across 2,213 shows. This brings the total gross collections to Rs 5.87 crore and net collections to Rs 4.90 crore in India. In conclusion, Toy Story 5 has made a remarkable impact on the box office, achieving impressive figures both domestically and internationally since its release on June 19.
