After months of waiting, the makers of Varanasi have finally dropped some hints about its release date. In Varanasi city, cryptic billboards sparked buzz over SS Rajamouli’s film release date. The hoardings read ‘In theatres, 7 April 2027’. The mysterious billboards have no movie title mentioned, piquing audiences’ interest. So far, neither the makers nor the actors have unveiled or spoken about the billboards or release date. Undoubtedly, the promotional campaign of the Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra globe-trotter epic has generated a lot of curiosity among fans and observers.

Since the first look of SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi has been out, fans and movie fanatics are eyeing its release date. Starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles, the movie is expected to be the RRR director’s next blockbuster. What brought the film back in news were the speculative billboards in Varanasi city. The minimalist promotional approach, devoid of logos, movie title, or other identifying features have left fans, observers, and movie buffs intrigued. 

The hoardings with no reference have stirred conversations around the most-awaited release date. However, the makers have remained tight-lipped. They were placed in highly visible and buzzing areas of the city, leading people to believe it is a coordinated marketing and promotional effort rather than a random occurrence.

A few days ago, the official X page of Varanasi posted a short video with references to Lord Ram, Hanuman from Lanka Nagaram in Trethayuga. It was then revealed that the film will be hitting the theatres next year, coinciding with Ram Navami, which falls on April 15, 2027. Some reports also suggested April 9 as its release date, but the strategic billboards hanging in the city have made it evident that the movie will meet the audience in theatres on April 7, 2027.
