Delhi’s weather is facing serious air pollution problems. On Thursday, the AQI was bad. According to the Air Quality Early Warning System, Delhi’s air quality is expected to stay in the very bad category on Thursday. Between November 6 and 7, it is predicted to deteriorate into the severe category.

Wednesday was the fifth day in a row that conditions worsened, demonstrating how quickly Delhi’s pollution issue has gone from being fairly clean to being in crisis. The city registered an AQI of 60, placing it in the satisfactory category, after strong winds and rain. The respite, however, was brief.

On Saturday, the AQI increased to 117. On Sunday, it worsened by 144 points to 261 and on Monday, it rose by an additional 63 points to 324. It increased even more on Tuesday, reaching 350, then on Wednesday it hit 377.

According to CPCB statistics, several locations recorded AQI levels above 400, including Jahangirpuri at 459 and the IIT Delhi area at 444. An AQI of 0-50 is considered good by the CPCB, 51-100 as satisfactory, 101-200 as moderate, 201-300 as poor, 301-400 as very poor and 401-500 as severe.
