It is raining romance dramas on Netflix, with one more added to the already-existing list. On Friday, the OTT giant took to its social media timelines to announce the adaptation of the best-selling young adult novel ‘Better Than the Movies’ written by Lynn Painter. It will feature Beatrice Kitsos and David Lacono in the lead roles.
Helmed by co-writer Julia Hart, Beatrice Kitsos will lead the film as high school senior Liz, opposite David Iacono as Wes Bennett. Here’s what’s more!
According to the official description, “Better Than the Movies” pays homage to all the romance tropes, including fake relationship, enemies to lovers, and boy next door. However, it turns the protagonists on their heads in this new take on what happily ever after looks like.
The romance drama follows the saga of Liz, a high school senior and hopeless romantic, as she enlists the help of her next-door neighbor Wes to help catch the attention of her longtime crush Michael.
More details on the rest of the cast members, plot, and release date are yet to be announced. The book “Better Than the Movies” stands as a #1 New York Times bestseller. So far, it has appeared on the New York Times monthly YA paperback list for 44 months and the weekly YA hardcover list for 20 weeks. Now, all eyes are on the book-to-screen adaptation by Netflix.
