There’s good news for every Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon fan. A new series is here to take you into the world of Westeros again: A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms. Just like the first two, even the upcoming series is written by George RR Martin. We have unveiled the timeline, the cast, and much more in this article.
A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms is based on Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas. The story is about the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk), who is a hedge knight, and his squire, Prince Aegon Targaryen (Egg), who ends up becoming King Aegon V Targaryen. In the novel, the story is set at least 90 years before the events of Game of Thrones and 200 years after the House of the Dragon wars. As per the reports, the series is set in the 203 AC era and will explore the different eras of Westeros. It will focus on the powerful Targaryen figures and what the societal dynamics were back then.
Recently, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Ira Parker revealed that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms won’t have a grand opening, like we saw in GoT and HoTD. The audience won’t get to see any animated depictions of Westeros; just the title, and the episode will start.
Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk)
Dexter Sol Ansell as Prince Aegon Targaryen (Egg)
Finn Bennett as Prince Aerion Targaryen
Bertie Carvel as Prince Baelor Targaryen
Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon
Sam Spruell as Prince Maekar Targaryen
Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle
The show will drop its first episode in January 2026 on HBO.
Even though the era is different, A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms (AKoTSK) is quite essential because it lays the groundwork for everything that unfolds in Game of Thrones (GoT) and the consequences of House of the Dragon (HotD). We will find out what happened that led to such a tumultuous period for the Targaryens in GoT and also get a more profound insight into the family’s legacy and the political landscape of Westeros.
