Starring Nayanthara and Kavin in the lead roles, the romance drama opened to mixed reviews. Released on Aug 28, the film also locked horns with “Once More” and “Khosla Ka Ghosla 2,” amidst Yash’s Toxic dominance. Fortunately, the rom-com managed to survive the buzz and hit Rs 1 crore on the opening day. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 1.25 crore net in India.

After touching the Rs 1 crore-mark on the first day of its premiere, the film is geared up for the weekend to roll in. As of day 2, 11.30 PM IST, the film has collected Rs 9 lakhs by running across 212 shows. This brings “Hi” gross collections to Rs 1.54 crore. 

On the first day, by running 786 shows, the romance drama registered 33 percent occupancy. The following day, it recorded 23.3 percent. As the weekend unfolds, the film is expected to escalate its momentum. 

The Tamil-language drama, “Hi,” follows the story of Mayilsamy, played by Kavin, whose repeated experiences with romantic rejection have left him struggling to find a relationship. His perspective changes after he encounters Devayani, played by Nayanthara, who is trying to avoid an arranged marriage. On the other hand, her father, Indhiran, played by Prabhu, has accepted Rs 57 lakh from the family of her prospective groom. When the groom’s family tracks Devayani down, Mayil steps in and publicly claims she is pregnant with his child to buy her time and ward them off. As a result, they pretend to be a couple, giving Mayil a three-month window to turn their fake relationship into true love.

Helmed by Vishnu Edavan, the film has captivated the attention of viewers through its narrative and feel-good storyline. In addition to the leads, the film features Prabhu, Radhika Sarathkumar, and late actor K. Bhagyaraj in pivotal roles.
