To keep FASTag active, vehicle owners must complete KYV (Know Your Vehicle) Verification, otherwise FASTag will be deactivated. Under this process, one must fulfill the KYV procedure by uploading car photos and documents every 3 years (Re-KYV). The process will be compulsory from October 31. If you fail to do KYV on time, then the FASTag account will be invalid and users need to pay toll in cash.
The compulsory process aims to enhance transparency and overcome misuse or fraud during toll collection. KYV aims to be a robust system. The KYV verification is mandatory for all FASTag users, irrespective of the issuing bank or payment app. The verification must be completed again in the matter of ownership transfer or a new registration number is issued. The KYV will remain valid until the car is sold to another. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has communicated the mandatory requirement to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
How to Process?
Open the FASTag App. If you are logged in, then click on KYV and submit the necessary documents. Complete email or OTP Verification and finally, FASTag will display Active and Verified status after the verification.
While submitting the documents through the bank, the image requirements are based on size limit, clarity, format cross-check with the bank. Once images are submitted, the bank will verify them, typically within 3–7 working days. Users will get status too. Also, if your verification is rejected, then your FASTag will be hot-listed, and you cannot use it till approval.
