Reaching 100 million Instagram followers, a new historic digital milestone for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demonstrates his popularity around the globe.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached a significant milestone on Thursday by becoming the first politician and leader in the world to gain 100 million Instagram followers, highlighting his unrivaled global presence on social media. Since joining Instagram in 2014, his account has gained popularity, establishing itself as one of the most popular and active political profiles in the world during the past ten years.

Additionally, a poll conducted by the US data analytics firm Morning Consult in July 2025 revealed that Modi was the top democratic leader, with a 75% popularity rating.

The Prime Minister’s account gives a glimpse into his formal meetings, international travels, cultural events and frequent interactions with the populace, all of which elicit significant participation from audiences in India and beyond.

The reports indicate that, with 43.2 million followers, US President Donald Trump is in second place, followed by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who has 15 million. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan comes in fourth with 11.6 million followers, while the Brazilian President comes in fourth with 14.4 million. Javier Milei, the President of Argentina, has 6.4 million followers.
