For a household of two adults and two children, Anjana claimed that his calculation assigned 50 percent to fixed expenses, 30 percent to wants like travel and entertainment and 20 percent to investments. San Francisco, the nation’s center for technology, was deemed the most costly city, necessitating a salary of 407,597 US dollars (Rs. 3.89 crore) for a family of four. He also gives a list of salaries required for living in US cities.

“This is the part nobody tells you when you are chasing the American dream: the salary that sounded huge back in India often barely covers a stressed, tight budget once you are actually living here with a family,” he said.
