NASA is ready for Moon missions again. In an effort to establish a permanent base on the Moon, NASA has announced three missions to the moon after a successful lunar flyaround.

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman announced a 20 billion USD proposal at a press conference on Tuesday to build a permanent base on the moon, complete with lunar rovers and drones, for conducting experiments that would help develop the skills necessary to survive and work in the hazardous environment, reported by PTI.

According to reports, NASA revealed its objective to establish a lunar base in March and described specific actions on Tuesday. In 2028, NASA intends to send astronauts to the moon. According to the space agency, Blue Moon Mark 1 Endurance lander from Blue Origin has been chosen for the Moon Base-I mission, which is scheduled to launch in September this year.

NASA will spend the next three years testing technology and making preparations for surface operations as part of its three phased program. Additionally, it intends to deliver at least one lunar terrain vehicle for use by astronauts who are anticipated to return to the moon’s surface in 2028 as part of the Artemis III mission.

The construction of the permanent infrastructure, such as a power grid, will begin during the moon base’s second phase, which runs from 2029 to 2032. The third phase from 2032 and beyond is expected to include increasing activities to maintain a continuous presence, regular crew rotations and continuous surface activity.
