NASA Astronaut Anil Menon Shares Breathtaking View of Full Moon From Space Station
Have you ever imagined how a full moon would look from space? Now, you can definitely witness that by the photo going viral on social media. A breathtaking photo of the full moon shining out against the blackness of space was posted by the International Space Station (ISS) and NASA astronaut Anil Menon.
The photograph was posted on July 29, which was this month’s full moon. NASA astronaut Anil Menon shared the picture. Astronauts on the ISS had a completely different perspective than skywatchers on Earth, who watched the Moon rise above the horizon.
“Full moon today. The @iss feels so close. And, that’s why it’s a step toward @nasaartemis, @nasamoonbase, and our future,” ISS and Anil Menon wrote in the caption.
The official page of NASA Artemis’s official Instagram page also reflected on the full moon photo. The caption reads: “Tonight, take a moment to look up and enjoy one of nature’s timeless sights: a full moon. Beautiful, familiar and endlessly inspiring, the Moon never loses its ability to fill us with wonder. July’s full Moon is traditionally known as the Buck Moon-a nod to the time of year when male deer begin growing a new set of antlers. The Moon’s name may change with the seasons, but its beauty never does.”
The full moon that occurs in July each year is referred to as the Buck Moon. The name has its origins in Native American traditions. Young male deer, often known as bucks, usually begin regrowing their velvet antlers in July after shedding them in the spring. Due to the abundance of summer storms or the start of the summer hay harvest season, this moon is known as the Thunder Moon or Hay Moon.
