Miami Open 2026: Jannik Sinner Defeats Alexander Zverev, Enters Final
Italy’s Jannik Sinner, the world’s second best player, beat fourth ranked Alexander Zverev for the seventh time in a row on Friday, moving on to the Miami Open men’s final against Czech Jiri Lehecka.
In a match that lasted one hour and fifty three minutes, the 24 year old Italian extended his streak of sets won in a row at the prestigious Masters 1000 level to 32 by beating Germany’s Zverev 6-3, 7-6 (7/4), as per the reports.
Jannik Sinner, the current Wimbledon winner and four time Grand Slam champion, is also hoping for his second Miami Open triumph in the last three years, having beaten Alexander Zverev in the Indian Wells semifinal two weeks earlier.
In three games against Sinner, Lehecka has not won and he has not yet won a set against the Italian. With a forehand winner that broke Zverev for a 3-1 lead in the first set, Sinner maintained a comfortable lead from there, winning the set in 42 minutes with a service winner.
The second set went to a tiebreak since neither player was able to break. The tiebreak turned when Zverev gave Sinner a 5-4 lead by hitting an overhead smash long.
