Apple Pay is likely to Launch in India in October: Reports
Apple Pay is likely to launch by late 2026 in India, as per the reports. Apple Pay is anticipated to launch between late September and early October, as per the media reports.
The company is still haggling over conditions with local banks. It will first disregard UPI support and concentrate exclusively on tap-to-pay credit cards from networks like Visa and Mastercard as regulatory clearances are still pending.
Currently, the company is negotiating transaction costs with credit card issuers, say reports. According to the reports, Apple is asking for 15 to 20 basis points per transaction, while certain major banks are pressing for a 10 basis point charge.
As stated above, Apple will first provide credit card services using Master Card or Visa, two of the top worldwide payment networks. Users will have to open Apple Pay in order to make cashless payments when making purchases from retailers and device owners will be able to add their credit or debit cards to Apple Wallet. To finish the transaction, they only need to bring their iPhone or Apple Watch close to the NFC-enabled point-of-sale (PoS) terminals.
