Man Shares Cost of Living and Income Before Tax in Australia, Internet Reacts

A man has shared a detailed breakdown of expenses and income in Australia. His video is going viral on social media. Divyaj Gautam, a counseling psychologist living in Sydney, has revealed how much he spends each month in Australia. Additionally, he posted a video on Instagram confirming his preparations to return to India.

He said that he spends about AUD 3,900 each month (around Rs. 2.6 lakh). He also said that he started out with basic hourly tasks and then moved on to more specialized and higher paying ones.

When he first came, he worked six days a week at an Indian grocery shop, earning roughly AUD 500 (Rs. 34,000) weekly. Later, he held a retail job, earning AUD 1,100 (Rs. 75,000) weekly. Since he began charging around AUD 3,000 (roughly Rs. 2 lakh) per client each month, he has made an average of AUD 10,000 (about Rs. 6.7 lakh) per month before tax at the height of his employment schedule, leaving him with around AUD 7,500 (Rs. 5 lakh) each month.

Rent: AUD 2,400 (Rs. 1.62 lakh)

Electricity, Gas, Water: AUD 350 (Rs. 24,000)

Groceries: AUD 500 (Rs. 34,000)

Gym Membership: AUD 100 (Rs. 7,000)

Socializing and Dining Out: AUD 500 to AUD 600 (Rs. 34,000 to Rs. 40,000)

“First job here: Indian grocery store, 6 days a week, around AUD 500/week. Three months in: retail (around AUD 1,100/week), plus my own practice as a psychosocial risk consultant (around AUD 3,000/month per client),” he wrote. He said that his total monthly expenses were almost AUD 3,900 and because his post-tax income was AUD 7,500, he was able to save approximately AUD 3,600 (about Rs. 2.4 lakh) each month.
