Heatwave in Western Europe:
Even as France and the United Kingdom recorded their highest May temperatures on record on Tuesday, Western Europe continued to suffer from a severe heatwave, which prompted health warnings, weather warnings and heat related fatalities across some areas of the continent.
Climate Change:
Heatwaves are becoming more regular and violent, according to researchers, who have cautioned that Europe is heating faster than the worldwide average as a result of human caused climate change, as highlighted by international media reports.
Seven Deaths Reported in Paris:
Paris had already registered its first temperature over 30 degrees Celsius of the year on Saturday, hitting 31.9 degrees Celsius, according to the records. Seven individuals have died in situations directly or indirectly related to the current heatwave, according to French Junior Energy Minister Maud Bregeon on Tuesday. According to Bregeon, five of the seven deaths were due to drowning in rivers, beaches or lakes, according to the media reports.
