In order to make the user experience easier, OpenAI announced on Thursday that it intends to combine its ChatGPT app, browser and coding platform Codex into a single desktop ‘Super App’, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.
Users all over the world are utilizing OpenAI. As the firm gets ready to market this new app, an OpenAI spokeswoman stated in a release that Greg Brockman, the company’s president, will temporarily oversee the product revamp and accompanying organizational modifications, while Fidji Simo, the chief of applications, will lead the sales team.
In an internal email to staff, the Journal said that Simo stated, “We realized we were spreading our efforts across too many apps and stacks and that we need to simplify our efforts. Due to this fragmentation, it has been more challenging for us to reach the quality standards we have set for ourselves and it has slowed us down.”
In order to increase its foothold in the market for AI code production, OpenAI released a standalone desktop version of its Codex coding tool earlier this year.
