India vs Zimbabwe 1st T20I Highlights: India Win First Game Under Shreyas Iyer’s Captaincy

Thursday saw a wonderful match between India and Zimbabwe. India won the match by 7 wickets. This was India’s first win under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy.

After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Shreyas Iyer’s squad bowled exceptionally well earlier. Zimbabwe was limited to 125 for 7 in 20 overs by India, thanks to two wickets apiece from Mayank Yadav (2/18) and Prince Yadav (2/19). Wessly Madhevere emerged as the highest scorer for the home team, contributing 39 runs from 34 balls, which included three fours and one six.

In the first T20I of the three-match series in Harare on Thursday, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s magnificent fifty helped India defeat Zimbabwe by seven wickets. Sooryavanshi began the 126 run chase with a blazing start, scoring 50 runs in just 18 deliveries. The next delivery saw him escape. There were four fours and a lot of sixes in the left-hander’s innings.

Shreyas Iyer also expressed his gratitude and gave a reaction after the win. “I think the boys were tremendous. Couldn’t have been happier with my first win. There was bounce from a good length and it was also variable. I felt it was there in both innings. The start Mayank gave was great.”
