Rajkummar Rao’s Prahaar to Lock New Release Date to Avoid Clash With Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2: Report

The makers of Rajkummar Rao’s upcoming drama Prahaar are reportedly planning to lock a new release date to avoid a box office clash with Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947 and Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2, which are scheduled to hit the theatres a week after the release. The makers are reportedly seeking a better theatrical window, just like Eetha.

Earlier, Maddock Films postponed Shraddha Kapoor’s Eetha, which was scheduled for August 28, 2026. The makers will be announcing a new release date soon. Following the same, reports are suggesting that Prahaar will also be facing a postponement.

Prahaar is based on the life of prominent special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam. Rajkummar Rao plays the titular role in the film, which also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikandar Kher in key roles.

A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “After discussions with the stakeholders, they felt that it would not be advisable to release the film during that period. Had it arrived on the scheduled date, it would have released a week after Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which arrives in cinemas on July 30, and a week before Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2, both of which release on August 14, 2026. All three films appear promising. Meanwhile, Prahaar is a special film that requires a healthy window, as it has the potential to draw audiences in large numbers.”  It further revealed that Prahaar was scheduled to arrive in cinemas on August 7. After discussions with the stakeholders, they felt that it would not be advisable to release the film during that period. 

The Maddock Films productions had planned to release two films in August – Prahaar and Eetha. However, no formal announcement has been made regarding either film’s revised plans.
