Pink looks good on me! says Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. In the IPL 2026 opener on Monday, his long-awaited return to the Rajasthan Royals was not only impactful but also symbolic. He delivered a decisive spell to derail his former IPL team, Chennai Super Kings. The 37-year-old’s comeback for RR set a new IPL record for the longest gap between appearances for the same team, which was 6158 days. Previously, Karn Sharma held the record with 5093 days, almost 14 years, separating his two appearances for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Jadeja’s return to RR from CSK in the new Indian Premier League season made headlines for obvious reasons. It marked his spiritual homecoming to the team where it all began 17 long years ago.

Ravindra Jadeja Returns to RR After 17 Years

On Monday, March 30, 2026, RR and CSK kick-started their respective season with the opener in Guwahati. Jadeja’s return to RR since 2009 was not just an emotional moment but also deeply moving for CSK supporters. As a part of the RR camp that won the inaugural edition in 2008, Jadeja played for them in 2009. He was chosen by the Rajasthan Royals team, which won the inaugural IPL back in 2008 under Shane Warne.

For the unversed, Jadeja was banned for the 2010 season for violating rules. In 2011, he played for the new franchise, Kochi Tuskers Kerala. From 2012, Jaddu has had an uninterrupted run for CSK, except in 2016 and 2017, when he played for the now-defunct Gujarat Lions during CSK’s ban. Talking about his entire IPL career, Jadeja is just 15 runs short of becoming the second Indian player to register 4000 runs and take 200 wickets in T20 cricket. Fans and cricket fanatics now await the all-rounder to get on the pitch and set new records.
