Toddlers need to be guided properly with love, care, protection and support. Their easy access, safety net and supporters are their parents. Many toddlers don’t even listen to their parents, but in that stage, it is very important for the parents to guide their toddler with positivity.

When toddlers are nurtured with positive discipline, they feel safe, valued and empowered because they are given restricted options, consistent boundaries and positive reinforcement for appropriate behavior. If your child is acting up or being cranky, try changing the subject, playing a game or switching to a different activity to redirect their energy toward good conduct.

Tips:

Give your child a feeling of agency by giving them basic options, such as the choice between two outfits or whether to have a snack before or after a game.

Instead of isolating them, sit with them in a calm environment, offering comfort and support as they try to process what occurred.

Set straightforward, age appropriate guidelines, like being gentle or picking up toys and clearly explain the consequences of their behavior, such as stopping playtime if they break the rules.
