Security agencies are on high alert after several schools in Ahmedabad and Noida received bomb threat emails ahead of Republic Day celebrations.

On Friday morning, multiple schools across Ahmedabad received bomb threat emails, according to the city’s crime branch. After receiving the information, the crime branch, bomb squad, and forensic department were deployed, and an investigation is currently underway.

According to news agency ANI, security teams immediately began checks at the affected schools.

Schools in Noida Closed

In Noida, Shiv Nadar School received a bomb threat via email. Following this, the school principal announced the closure of the school on Friday, January 23.

In an email sent to parents, the principal wrote, “Dear Parents, we have received an email with a bomb threat this morning, and as a precautionary measure to allow for a security sweep, the school will remain closed today, Friday, January 23, 2026.”

The message further added, “School buses are being sent back, and parents are requested to receive their children at the designated drop-off spots. Parents may connect with the respective bus staff for real-time updates on arrival at the designated locations.”

Apart from Shiv Nadar School, Bal Bharati School, and Cambridge School were also closed on Friday in Noida.

Meanwhile, Noida Police said that after receiving information about threat emails sent to private schools, senior officers, police personnel from various police stations, the bomb squad, fire brigade, dog squad, and BDDS teams were immediately deployed. Thorough checks are currently being carried out at all locations.

The cyber team is also conducting a technical examination of the threat emails.
