Mumbai Traffic Rules: Heavy Vehicles Banned From Entering the City From February 1 During Peak Hours
To ease the congestion, heavy vehicles are now prohibited from entering Mumbai city from February 1 during peak hours. The restriction on large vehicles will be enforced by the Mumbai Traffic Police.
Mumbai faces heavy and congested traffic issues, especially now when the busiest hours are from 3 pm to 9-10 pm, where many citizens experience heavy traffic, crowds and noise issues. To overcome the congestion, this initiative took place.
With tighter rules in South Mumbai and fresh traffic diversions implemented in Dahisar to improve mobility, the restrictions are in effect throughout the city. The restrictions will apply throughout the city from 8 am to 11 am and from 5 pm to 9 pm. Traffic gridlocks are becoming more common, according to authorities, in large part due to the increasing number of cars on the road and ongoing infrastructure developments. Limiting the movement of large vehicles during peak times is anticipated to improve traffic flow and increase commuter safety.
The Mumbai Traffic Police have urged people and commuters to be aware of these adjustments and work together to maintain traffic flow.
Regulations in South Mumbai have been tightened. Between 7 am and midnight, no heavy vehicles are allowed in the area, including luxury buses. During this time, just vehicles carrying vital commodities will be permitted, while all other heavy vehicles will only be allowed to enter between midnight and 7 am, according to the reports.
