Mumbai Ranked as the World’s 5th Best Food City, Survey Reveals
Mumbai’s food has its own different fan base. Many tourists from around the globe come to Mumbai to taste the delicious food. Now, Mumbai city is ranked the 5th best food city in the world. According to TasteAtlas, Mumbai has earned global recognition as it secures the fifth position in the world.
Vada Pav, Misal, Dosa, Pizza, Frankie, Burger, Pani Puri, Bhel, Paratha etc.; you just name them, everything is available here in Mumbai. From street food to continental dishes, from Chinese to Mexican, but the list never ends, it goes on and on. There are many iconic restaurants in Mumbai too.
In addition to street food, classic restaurants such as Cafe Madras, Shere Thaker Bhojanalay and Ram Ashraya were highlighted as examples of how Mumbai’s culinary heritage has been preserved. The TasteAtlas list also included Chennai (93rd), Kolkata (73rd), Hyderabad (54th), New Delhi (53rd) and Amritsar (48th) among other cities.
In the TasteAtlas Awards 2025/26, Indian food as a whole came in at number 13 among the top 100 cuisines in the world, further demonstrating the nation’s expanding impact on the culinary world.
TasteAtlas noted that, “these 100 cities have the greatest average ratings for the regional and national cuisine that is most frequently served there, as determined by 590,228 valid food ratings for 16,357 foods from 18,828 cities in our database.” Mumbai’s iconic food has won many people’s hearts, there is no doubt about it. We can explore new and tasty food here in Mumbai and, because of that, we don’t even need to roam abroad. The food demand and market is expanding rapidly.
