Monsoon has intensified in Mumbai and neighboring regions as well as across Maharashtra. Now, as per the recent reports, Mumbai city has witnessed 100 mm of rainfall in just 24 hours. Many parts of the city are waterlogged and daily life has come to a standstill. IMD has also issued weather alerts for Mumbai and other regions.
The heavy rainfall has impacted the daily life of the citizens. Local trains have been delayed due to heavy downpour since morning. Since the rain keeps falling without significant delay, it is recommended that people only leave home if necessary. Mumbai recorded over 100 mm of rain in many areas in the 24 hours concluding at 8 am on Wednesday, causing water logging in a few low-lying areas around the city.
According to reports, the island city received 86 mm, the western suburbs received 87 mm and the eastern suburbs received 109 mm of rain between 8 am on Tuesday and 8 am on Wednesday, according to the BMC.

For Mumbai and Thane, the IMD had issued an orange alert for Wednesday, predicting severe to extremely heavy rainfall with thunderstorms in remote regions. There is a chance that certain regions of Palghar will experience significant rain.
