Mumbai Metro line 2B and 9 were launched today on April 7 (Tuesday) by CM Devendra Fadnavis. The first phases of Mumbai Metro Line 9, which runs from Dahisar East to Kashigaon and Line 2B, which runs from Mandale to Chembur, were officially opened on Tuesday by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

With numerous projects being rolled out simultaneously, the Mumbai Metro network is poised for significant growth, spanning about 90 kilometers. This is one of the most significant multi-corridor transportation improvements in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region in a single phase, highlighted by the media reports.

The Mumbai Metro has already crossed the 90 km expansion. Now, by the end of the year, the Mumbai Metro is set to expand by 120 km as per the reports.

Mumbai now has five functioning metro routes as a result of this. The Aqua Line, which connects Colaba in south Mumbai with Bandra Kurla Complex and SEEPZ, is the name of Line 3, while Line 1 runs between Ghatkopar and Andheri to Versova, Line 2A between Andheri West and Dahisar East and Line 7 between Dahisar East and Andheri East.

The five functioning lines in Mumbai include:

Metro Line 1 (Blue): Versova to Andheri to Ghatkopar.

Metro Line 2A (Yellow): Dahisar East to DN Nagar (Andheri West).

Metro Line 3 (Aqua): Colaba to Bandra to SEEPZ (Partial).

Metro Line 7 (Red): Dahisar East to Gundavali (Andheri East).

Metro Line 9 (Red Extension): Dahisar East to Mira-Bhayandar (Phase 1 inaugurated).

Mumbai will have six operational Metro lines, with regular services planned to begin on both lines on Wednesday, reported by PTI.

What Commuters Need to Know:

Line 9 Integration: Metro Line 7 is now integrated with Line 9, providing direct connectivity from Andheri East (Gundavali) to Kashigaon in Mira-Bhayandar, spanning 19.79 km.

Independent Operations: Line 2A (Dahisar East to Andheri West) and Line 7/9 now function as separate, independent corridors.

New Connectivity: Line 2B now connects parts of the Harbour Line area, including Mandale to Chembur.
