A motorman was injured during the monorail trial in Malad on Wednesday. He was doing a test run. The train tilted off the track during the run near Walada depot. The accident raised safety concerns when traveling in the Monorail after an incident happened a few months back in the monsoon where passengers got stuck in the monorail, which was halted suddenly. The recuse operation lasted for several hours.

The incident took place around 9 am. Fortunately, no serious injuries have been reported and there were no passengers inside the monorail. Engineers were conducting routine signaling and switch-over trials on a newly delivered monorail rake. During the process of shifting from one beam to another, the train reportedly slipped and tilted to one side.

Situation in Control:

Officials said there were no passengers inside the train. No injuries were reported in the incident. Two crew members were safely rescued from the monorail, a fire brigade official said, as per the PTI Report. After observing the lean, eyewitnesses and personnel stationed nearby quickly notified emergency services. The two workers who were within the rake were successfully retrieved.

The MMRDA ordered an Inquiry:

To ascertain the reason for the tilt, whether it was the result of a signaling mistake, a mechanical failure, or an operational oversight, the MMRDA has ordered a thorough inquiry. The agency stressed that all safety inspections will be intensified before additional test runs are conducted and stated that public monorail services are still unaffected.

The MMRDA officials have rushed towards the incident. The incident was described by officials as a minor technical glitch that happened during an internal test, and they reassured the public that there was no risk to their safety. Now, the Monorail is running in good state and now new modifications will be made for the safety concerns.
