Mumbai House Help Commits Suicide at Employer’s Flat

A 27-year-old house help allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in the balcony of her employer’s flat in Mumbai’s Antop Hill area, police said.

According to officials, the woman had been working for the past two years at a third-floor flat owned by a 72-year-old senior citizen couple at Kalpak Apartment, Antop Hill. She also stayed with them in the same residence.

Police said they are trying to contact her family and relatives to understand what may have led her to take such an extreme step. “The exact reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained,” an official stated.

A case of accidental death has been registered at the Antop Hill police station, and further investigation is underway.
