Mumbai Coastal Road Extension to Virar: Work will Commence Soon, Says Piyush Goyal

Mumbai: The coastal road has refined Mumbai’s connectivity. Now one can reach the destination in less time than before, avoiding traffic hustle. As per the latest reports, the Coastal Road will extend to Virar. The Union Minister showed the green flag and said that the extension work would begin soon. The extension will provide more convenience than before. The travel from Nariman point to Virar is expected to reduce to just 35 to 40 minutes. Thus, this will be an advantage to all Mumbaiites.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that all major hurdles in the Mumbai Coastal Road project, planned to extend up to Virar in Palghar district, have been resolved and that work on it will begin soon. He delivered his speech on Sunday at an event. He added that, all approvals related to the Mumbai Coastal Road Project, including land acquisition, transfer of saltpan lands and clearances from the Coastal Regulation Zone, Environment Ministry and Forest Department, have been secured. He has also chaired high-level review meeting in Mumbai.

Senior officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority, district, and other organizations participated in the meeting, which assessed development activities in North Mumbai. Thane and Mumbai Suburban, Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority, Public Works Department, and the police are among the collectors.

Goyal announced during the meeting that the construction of the Madh-Versova Bridge has been expedited and that the Borivali-Thane tunnel project is anticipated to begin in two months. He instructed officials to take immediate action and implement restrictions on large private cars in order to alleviate traffic on the Western Express Highway. The Coastal Road connected to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, which will later connect to Versova and then to Virar. He has been following the progress of the Coastal Road Project extension with state and central government.
