According to the reports, Infosys is now monitoring the electricity use of its remote workforce. Why did Infosys decide to do this? That is what we will be focusing on here.
The Economic Times said that Jayesh Sanghrajka, the Chief Financial Officer of Infosys, sent an internal email to its work from home employees, announcing an electricity usage study that would last a few minutes. The survey, which is only applicable to the company’s hybrid personnel, is part of the IT major’s endeavor to map the environmental impact of the equipment used by its work from home workforce, Sanghrajka said in the email.
“The environmental consequences of our work are increasingly extending beyond our campuses and into our homes as hybrid work becomes an essential aspect of our operations. Additionally, Infosys’ greenhouse gas emissions are partially caused by the electricity used when working from home. To improve and revise our reporting approach, it is crucial that we continue to gather reliable information on the energy use of people working from home.”
The survey, according to Sanghrajka, will enable the business to measure the impact more precisely and create effective sustainability initiatives.
For those who are working from home, Infosys has asked its staff to share their power consumption data with the business. Employees are expected to be in the office for at least 10 days each month as part of the company’s hybrid arrangement, with the majority of their work done from home. As part of the IT services behemoth’s 15 year pursuit of cleaner energy production, the data gathered will have an impact, according to the media report.
