IndiGo Cleared All Refunds During 3-5 December Cancellations, DGCA Confirms
During December 1st week and later, for many days, the IndiGo operations were disturbed and many fights were cancelled back to back. Now, DGCA has confirmed by releasing a press note that the aviation company has cleared the refunds of the cancellations. Many passengers were affected by the disruptions.
The DGCA, the regulatory body for aviation safety, announced on Friday that IndiGo, a local airline, has issued refunds to all travellers impacted by the flight cancellations that occurred between December 3 and 5.
“The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is in continuous contact with local carrier IndiGo about the reimbursements and compensations given to the impacted passengers as a result of operational disruptions from December 3 to 5,” according to the statement. IndiGo has informed the DGCA that every refund for cancelled IndiGo flights between December 3 and December 5 has been completely handled and issued through the original payment method, according to a statement released by the DGCA.

As an additional measure to support affected travellers, the airline has also implemented a gesture of care under which two travel vouchers, each worth Rs. 5,000 and valid for 12 months, are being given out. Passenger compensation is mandated by DGCA rules pertaining to the facilities that airlines are required to provide to passengers as a result of denied boarding, cancellation of flights and delays in flights.
Union Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu said in response to a query in Parliament on December 9 that IndiGo had been directed to speed up reimbursements and that passengers had already gotten more than Rs. 750 crore.
