Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has shared an important update and timeline of India’s first bullet train. Recently, he announced that India will begin operations of the first phase of the first bullet train service next year.
While speaking at an event, he said, “India’s first bullet train enters its next chapter. Starting next year, the under-construction Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed rail corridor will open phase by phase, beginning with the Surat-Bilimora section.” He said this at the HYSEA GCCS & IT Roundtable at the Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre.
The train service will start from August 15, 2027, according to the reports. According to him, after the Surat-Bilimora stretch, the services will be extended in stages to Vapi and then to Ahmedabad, followed by Thane and at the end the full Mumbai to Ahmedabad route will be completed. Once fully operated, the bullet train is expected to run at 320 kmph.

80% of the Work is Fully Completed, Says the Minister.
He said that around 80% of the bullet train project has been completed and expressed confidence that it will also meet its rollout timeline. Once fully operational, the bullet train is expected to run at speeds of up to 320 kmph.
