Four Workers Injured in Gas Cylinder Explosion at Ghatkopar Under-Construction Building Site

On Tuesday night, a gas cylinder exploded in a private under-construction building in Ghatkopar East, injuring four workers, including two in critical condition. The injured were rushed to Rajawadi Hospital. The incident was reported at 9:11 pm.

According to the BMC disaster management report, a gas cylinder exploded in the temporary shelters constructed for the workers of Neeldhara, a seven-story building under construction, situated on 60 Feet Road, near Vidyaniketan College, opposite Jain Mandir in Ghatkopar East.

Local police, N ward office, and Mumbai Fire Brigade representatives were sent to the scene to assess the situation.

The victims identified as being in critical condition are Ghyansham Yadav (36) and Devendra Pal (26), both of whom suffered burns covering 60 to 70% of their bodies. The victims currently in stable condition include Mahendra Choudhari (32), who has 10 to 12% burns, and Sandeep Pal (20), who has sustained 5% burns. All four victims are under treatment in the BMC-run Rajawadi Hospital.

Within a week, this was the city’s second gas cylinder explosion. A cylinder blast in Kandivali last Wednesday injured seven people, six of whom were women. Six of them, all women, died during treatment.
